Course objectives
The aim of the course is to introduce to the students main theories of nationalism and nation, state and statelessness, race and racism and group and groupism that formed Central Europe in the past as well as today. We will look at these phenomenon through the lense of social anthropology, using its major theories of power, social structure, kinship, religion and economics.
Learning outcomes
Students will be able to detect traces of nationalism, racism and groupism in current as well as distant policies of Central European states. They will be able to assess critically their consequences and attempt prediction of their power into the future.
