Course objectives
The main goal of the course is to introduce different approaches to so-called dramaturgical analysis be which we mean the specific work of creative producer or script doctor during development and production of audio-visual work.
Learning outcomes
Students will be able to:
- Apply main tools of film neoformalist analysis.
- Analyze film composition especially in recent Hollywood movies.
- Apply methods of discourse analysis on audiovisual content.
- Identify main intertextual meanings in different films.
- Analyze film script with all previously given methods.

  • 1. Introduction, dramaturgy versus script doctoring and work of creative producer.
  • 2. Dramaturgy as creative tool.
  • 3. Screenwriting and work with the writer.
  • 4. Neoformalist analysis.
  • 5. Narratology.
  • 6. Discourse analysis in audiovisual industry.
  • 7. Intertextuality.
  • 8. Specifics of the work of documentary creative producer.
  • 9. Scrip-doctoring.
  • 10. Applicability of learnt skills in the industry.
