Cíle předmětu
New digital technologies have brought a number of new ways of news production while traditional media platforms such as paper, television, and radio as the main news outlets have rapidly declined. This course is designed to review the diversifying ways of news production on digital platforms. Grounded in the techno-social context of digital news production and distribution, this course aims to discuss how the new practices have responded to audiences’ demand as well as have shaped the ways of news consumption. Dealing with the ever-changing trend of news dissemination, students are encouraged to explore new cases and features adopted by global leading digital news outlets.

Students will be able to:
- interpret the technological trend of the news industry
- understand the techno-social context of digital news production
- discuss the future direction of news dissemination
- find new cases and features of digital news
- organize his/her own project to produce a trend report

Výukové metody
lectures, controlled discussions of various assigned readings
Metody hodnocení
All students are expected to read all articles assigned and to develop appropriate discussion questions. Each student is a discussion leader for an assigned week. Students have to submit a research paper (topic of student’s choice in consultation with instructor; minimum 14 pages).
