Course objectives
An interactive course focuses on the forms of written news and feature genres in the media. In a set of tests and stylistic exercises students verify the ability to apply their previously acquired theoretical knowledge in practice. They learn attentive textology - in a set of authentic journalistic texts. It also processes stylistic exercises. An important element of the teaching methodology is the team work. The complexity of the course is based on the requirements of the application sphere, as elaborated in the market analysis.
Learning outcomes
Students will be able to better formulate news and feature journalistic genres after completing the subject. They learn to work with the text, reflect its shortcomings and work in team.

  • Topics: 1. Characteristics of news and feature genres. 2. Create a title. 3. Information saturation of the message. 4. The leaks in lexical choice. Exercises. 5. Newscasts taken from foreign sources. Analysis of texts. 6. Creating a feature text. 7. Logic, clarity. Analysis of texts (sports news). 8. Types of introductions. Analysis of texts. 9. Composition, text linkage. Paragraph. Analysis of texts. 10. Construction of the journalistic text, the structure of the genre. Analysis of texts. Exercises. 11. Choice of subject, paragraph, proportions. Types of conclusions. Analysis of texts. Exercises. 12. Textological adaptation of a longer text.

Teaching methods
Seminars, assignments, emphasis is placed on active participation of students during seminars, teamwork, group project, games principle.
Assessment methods
Final test, text editing (authentic text from printed media) + completing of stylistic exercises. During the semester is required homeworks and assignments. Participation (at least 80%) is also required. Each seminar includes test and textual analysis.
