Course objectives
The aim of the course is introduce the students to the key figures and ideas of the classical period of sociology (from the mid-19th century to the early 20th century), when the foundations of the field on which sociology was built in later decades were laid.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course students should be able to identify basic ideas and theses in the selected readings, to interpret their meanings, to apply them on the social reality of contemporary societies as well as compare different sociological analyses of the life in modern societies.
