- Course objectives
- At the end of the course students should be able to:
know the history of the state and the law in selected Asian, African and Latin American countries;
analyze important legal sources from these countries;
understand actual evolution of theses countries in the historical context - Learning outcomes
- After finishing the course, a student will be able to:
- identify and summarize the key characteristics of the development of the state and law in selected Non-European countries;
- to compare and highlight the differences in government in different forms of government;
- compare and stress the differences in legal systems under various forms of government. - Syllabus
- History of the state and law in ancien Egypt, Mesopotamia, in Persian Empire, in Hittite Empire, in ancient China and India
- Origin of Islam. The history of the Arab Caliphate. Sources of the islamic law
- Legal history of the Seljuk Turks and Ottoman Empire
- State and law in Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan in the Middle Ages
- Early civilizations and states in Latin America. The Spanish and Portuguese colonial system in Latin America
- The legal history of Philippines
- Forms of French Administration in Maghreb
- The Japanese Fascism
- Origin of independent states in Asia and Africa after World War II
