Course objectives
The main objectives of Nursing Practice I are identified in the cognitive, psychomotor and attitudinal. The goal of nursing practice is: - Acquisition and consolidation of professional nursing activities realization of nursing process in   specified group of patients in a clinical medical practice; - Determination of nursing diagnoses, objectives and action plans and evaluating nursing interventions; - Implementation of individualized nursing care based on understanding biopsychosocial needs and problems of the client; - Formation of professional qualities of a nurse; - Strengthening communication skills; - Acquisition and consolidation of work habits and organization of work at the nursing unit; - The acquisition of working with   nursing and medical documentation; - Acquisition and application of scientific terminology.
Learning outcomes
describe and define the specificities of the nursing process in the clinical department;
to acquire and consolidate the professional activities carried out on the basis of the nursing process in a group of patients under the natural conditions of medical practice;
to identify the biopsychosocial needs of patients and, on their basis, to create a plan for individualized nursing care in the form of nursing diagnosis, goals and plans of activities and assessment;
to consolidate communicative skills;
to use nursing and medical documentation and to record changes in the status of patients according to the competencies of the students
Syllabus
  • Nursing Practice builds on theoretical knowledge of   nursing and clinical subjects. The practice is focused on practical training and mastery of nursing, diagnostic and therapeutic skills. It focuses on identifying the problems of the patient, holistic approach, understanding the terminology and compliance health and safety at work. Practical activities are directed towards providing nursing care     in the basic areas of self-care, measurement and assessment of vital signs and drill sampling of biological material. Nursing Practice I respect the generally binding standards of nursing practice and uses the latest scientific advances in the field of Nursing   - evidence-based practice. The practice is carried out at the University Hospital Brno in the Clinic Internal Medicine, Geriatrics and Practical Medicine.

Assessment methods
The practical lesson is finished by a test at the clinical workplace. The exam is subject to: - 100% participation in teaching, - elaboration of seminar paper - nursing anamnesis according to Marjor Gordon's conceptual model.
