Course objectives
The main learning objectives are:
- acquiring theoretical knowledge about the organization and meaning of psychiatry in nursing work
- acquiring theoretical knowledge about major psychiatric disorders and psychoses
- acquiring theoretical knowledge about possible pharmacological and non-pharmacological procedures for the treatment of psychiatric disorders
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course the student will be able to:
- understand the importance and organization of psychiatry in the nursing process
- describe and recognize the symptoms of the most common psychiatric disorders and psychotic illness
- design and implement a suitable nursing procedure to calm a restless patient
- describe possible pharmacological and non-pharmacological procedures for the treatment of psychiatric disorders
