Course objectives
The subject introduces to ethical issues of emergency medicine and urgent care, providing a basic overview of ethical dilemmas with which the rescuer encounters in his/her practice, indicating possible solutions and developing knowledge of normative ethical tools and their implementation.
Syllabus
  • 1. Introduction to ethics in emergency medicine and urgent care. 2. Models of relations in the health and their development. 3. Informed consent. 4. The patients´rights. 5. Incompetent patient. 6. Modi of decisions about health care. 7. Health care information and privacy. 8. Organ donation and transplantation ethics. 9. Medical futility. 10. Categorization of treatment. 11. Death and dying. 12. Care for the terminally ill pacients and dying persons. 13. Ethics of biomedical research. 14. Ethics and law as normative tools (Convention on Human Rights and Biomedicine, Declaration on Human Rights and Bioethics, professional codices).
