Course objectives
The course is designed as preparation for the exam in the discipline Russian syntax 1. The goal of the course is to practice and complement the lectures of discussed topics, to deep the knowledge of the Russian punctuation, to expand the information about the syntax of the confrontational aspect, to develop communication skills in written and oral expression.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course the student will be able to interpret syntactic phenomena of contemporary Russian; to compare simple and compound sentences in Russian and Czech; to use the information to the proper formation of Russian sentences; to use punctuation in writing speech correctly.
Syllabus
  • 1.Syntactical units. Similarities and differences between the Russian and Czech languages.
  • 2. The simple sentence. The types of sentences according to the communicative intent, confrontation with Czech sentences.
  • 3. Negative sentences. Their specifics and translation into Czech and vice versa.
  • 4. The main sentence elements: subject and predicate. Problems of translation sentences with expressed and unexpressed subject. Determining the types of predicates.
  • 5. The secondary sentence elements: attribute and apposition. Differences and similarities between the Russian and Czech. Ways to express apposition in Russian.
  • 6. The direct and indirect object. The direct object in negative sentences. Complement. Ways to express it. Translation of structures with complement to Czech.
  • 7. Adverbial: classification, ways to express the adverbials. Punctuation in sentences with some types of adverbial.
  • 8. Classification of one-element sentences. One-element sentences in Russian in comparison with Czech.
  • 9. Complex sentences: syntactic analysis, specifics of Czech translations of these sentences into Russian.
  • 10. Determining the type of coordinate sentences. Differences between Russian and Czech.

Course objectives
The course is designed as preparation for the exam in the discipline Russian syntax 1. The goal of the course is to practice and complement the lectures of discussed topics, to deep the knowledge of the Russian punctuation, to expand the information about the syntax of the confrontational aspect, to develop communication skills in written and oral expression.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course the student will be able to interpret syntactic phenomena of contemporary Russian, to compare simple and compound sentences in Russian and Czech, to use the information to the proper formation of Russian sentences, to use punctuation in writing speech correctly.
Syllabus
  • 1.Syntactical units. Similarities and differences between the Russian and Czech languages.
  • 2. The simple sentence. The types of sentences according to the communicative intent, confrontation with Czech sentences.
  • 3. Negative sentences. Their specifics and translation into Czech and vice versa.
  • 4. The main sentence elements: subject and predicate. Problems of translation sentences with expressed and unexpressed subject. Determining the types of predicates.
  • 5. The secondary sentence elements: attribute and apposition. Differences and similarities between the Russian and Czech. Ways to express apposition in Russian.
  • 6. The direct and indirect object. The direct object in negative sentences. Complement. Ways to express it. Translation of structures with complement to Czech.
  • 7. Adverbial: classification, ways to express the adverbials. Punctuation in sentences with some types of adverbial.
  • 8. Classification of one-element sentences. One-element sentences in Russian in comparison with Czech.
  • 9. Complex sentences: syntactic analysis, specifics of Czech translations of these sentences into Russian.
  • 10. Determining the type of coordinate sentences. Differences between Russian and Czech.
  • 11. Analysis of compound sentences. Specifics of compound sentences in Russian in comparison with Czech.
  • 12. Asyndetical sentences. Punctuation in asyndetical sentences.
