Course objectives
The goal of course is to deepen the knowledge of practical language at the phonetic, lexical, stylistic and grammatical aspects; to mediate and to practice vocabulary thematically corresponding to the topics of the practical language exercises 3; to develop communication skills in written and verbal.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the students will be able:
to discuss the topics;
to express their views on the use of thematic vocabulary;
to use correctly phraseological units and stylistic means;
to improve in written and oral speech;
to use correctly intonation constructions.

  • 1. Holiday and vacation. How I spent my summer holiday.
  • 2. Tourism. Travel agents and their offerings.
  • 3. Free time. How does the youth of today spend their free time?
  • 4. My hobbies. Comparison of Russian and Czech life.
  • 5. Sport. Sports education of children.
  • 6. Active lifestyle.
  • 7. Fashion today. Fashion and me.
  • 8. Fashion magazines in Russia and the Czech Republic.
  • 9. Ecology and the environment. Environmental protection.
  • 10. Ecological disaster. How can we prevent it?
  • 11. Natural wealth of Russia. Vegetable and animal world of Russia.

Teaching methods
Seminar. Regular preparing for the seminar and doing of required homework. Listening and reading of Russian texts. Discussions and presentations within the discussed topics.
Assessment methods
The credit requirements: 1. regular assessment and doing the required home assignments. 2. written essay on the given topic (student must hand in it during the last study week at the latest).
