Course objectives
This part of the course deals with the comparison of the Czech and French language systems. The translation exercise in the textbook French for advanced (lessons 23-25) draws attention to the differences between both languages and contributes to overcome the interferential influences. Translations of continuous texts with the utilisation of such translation procedures that enable to maintain the spirit of the target language. The supposes the level of receptive skills close to the C1 level and the level of productive skills higher that B2.
Syllabus
  • Translation procedures: 1. Transposition of a word class: simple and twofold. 2. Syntax transposition: active voice passive, sentence part auxiliary clause. 3. Transposition of a French noun into Czech. 4. Transposition of a Czech adverb. 5. Concentration and dilution. 6. Replacement by a fuller expression (étoffement) and vice versa (dépouillement). 7. Modulation. 8. Sentence synonymy.

This part of the course deals with the comparison of the Czech and French language systems. The translation exercise in the textbook French for advanced (lessons 23-25) draws attention to the differences between both languages and contributes to overcome the interferential influences. Translations of continuous texts with the utilisation of such translation procedures that enable to maintain the spirit of the target language. The supposes the level of receptive skills close to the C1 level and the level of productive skills higher that B2. At the end of this course, students should be able to: understand extended speech and lectures, articles and reports concerned with contemporary problems provided that the topic is reasonably familiar; interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity, take an active part in discussion in familiar contexts while accounting for, and sustaining, their views; write an essay or report, passing on information or giving reasons in support of, or against, a particular point of view.

At the end of this course, students should be able to: understand extended speech and lectures, articles and reports concerned with contemporary problems provided that the topic is reasonably familiar; interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity, take an active part in discussion in familiar contexts while accounting for, and sustaining, their views; write an essay or report, passing on information or giving reasons in support of, or against, a particular point of view.

Course objectives
This part of the course deals with the comparison of the Czech and French language systems. The translation exercise in the textbook French for advanced (lessons 23-25) draws attention to the differences between both languages and contributes to overcome the interferential influences. Translations of continuous texts with the utilisation of such translation procedures that enable to maintain the spirit of the target language. The supposes the level of receptive skills close to the C1 level and the level of productive skills higher that B2.
Syllabus
  • Translation procedures: 1. Transposition of a word class: simple and twofold. 2. Syntax transposition: active voice passive, sentence part auxiliary clause. 3. Transposition of a French noun into Czech. 4. Transposition of a Czech adverb. 5. Concentration and dilution. 6. Replacement by a fuller expression (étoffement) and vice versa (dépouillement). 7. Modulation. 8. Sentence synonymy.

Assessment methods (in Czech)
Průběžná kontrola: Během semestru studenti píší testy na prověření svých znalostí. Jejich výsledky budou mít vliv na získání zápočtu. Zápočet: Napíší-li studenti průběžné testy minimálně na 70% dohromady, získají zápočet; v opačném případě píší jeden test ze všech probraných lekcí a musí získat rovněž 70%.
