Course objectives
Main objective of the course is to acquire basic knowledge in stylistics and review of the distinctive features of the functional styles in French. It focuses on the stylistic means available in French at phonetical, phonological, graphetical, morphological, syntactical, lexical and semantic level and introduces the students to the study of the stylistics of a text.
Syllabus
  • 1. Stylistics as a linguistic discipline. Explicitness and redundancy in language. 2. Norm and deviation. Stylistic markers of a style. 3. Criteria for stylistic analysis. 4. Functional styles in French. 5. Linguistic description of a text. Cohesion and coherence.
