Course objectives
Introduction to Medical Disciplines Concept of health, survey of defects of motor system, heart-vascular system, respiratory system, digestive system, secretion system, skin and nerve systems, child with sensory defect, school and infections of child with allergy, health risks of teachers position, introduction to evaluation of nutritional consumption, basic terminology of infectology, defects of reproductive system, reproductive and sexual behaviour as risk factor.
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to: - Interpret basic concepts of health
- evaluate your lifestyle and make appropriate corrections (according to your diet, physical activity, sleep, etc.)
- know the valid resources of health
Syllabus
  • The idea of health.
  • Overview of impairments of locomotive organs, heart-vascular impairments, respiratory, digestive, excretory systems, dermal, and nerve systems.
  • Child with sensory impairment.
  • School and infections.
  • Child with allergies, health risks of the teaching profession.
  • General evaluation of nutrition state.
  • General terminology of infectious deseases.
  • Impairments of reproduction organs, reproduction and sexual behavior as a risk factor.
  • Social pathology and its prevention.
  • First Aid.

Teaching methods
Theoretical principles, videoprogrammes, study hour. Individual consultation.
Assessment methods
The learner writes a short report (2 pages) on 4 selected health topics that have caught his/her attention. The report will focus on a current health issue (e.g. infectious disease topic - current affairs - whooping cough).
