Course objectives
Doctoral student learns the basics of how to present his/her science work and how to hold a public critical discussion in professional forums like a conference, symposium, workshop or specialised seminar.
Learning outcomes
After completion of the course, student will be able to:
- choose a partial topic of his/her work for presentation;
- identify the key information to be communicated to the audience;
- prepare a presentation;
- present his/her data and opinions;
- defend his/her attitudes in a discussion.
Syllabus
  • Each doctoral student holds at least one oral presentation on his/her dissertation project or on some other adequate specialised topic in a public professional forum like a conference, symposium, workshop or seminar.

Teaching methods
Preparation of a presentation, consultations with thesis advisor, presentation in a scholarly forum
Assessment methods
Requirements for a successful completion of the course: oral presentation of the dissertation project or some other adequate specialised topic where the doctoral student is the author or indisputable co-author. This oral presentation must be held in an intra- or interdisciplinary symposium, conference, workshop, seminar. The course-unit credit is awarded by the thesis advisor.
