Course objectives
The course is designed as a lecture introducing the leading trends of both Czech as well as world literary theory to the students. The students are also provided with The Reader to Literary Theory which contains essencial texts regarded to the topic of the lecture.
After finishing the course the students will be able:
to analyse and unterpret selected literary theoretical texts;
to apply this theoretical knowledge to analysing particular literary texts.
Syllabus
  • The lecture focuses on crucial concepts, periods and trends of Czech and world literary theoretical thought, such as: Text - semantical and pragmatical approaches, Reader Response Criticism, Narratology, Interpretation of Poetry, Theory of Autobiography and Narrative identity, Postmodernism, Deconstruction, Methodology of literary history, Theory of intermediality.
