Předmět je volným pokračováním a doplněním Kurzu správného psaní (CJBB119). Mohou si ho zapisovat všichni studenti MU s výjimkou oboru Český jazyk a literatura.
Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is offered to students of any study field.
The capacity limit for the course is 20 student(s).
Current registration and enrolment status: enrolled: 0/20, only registered: 0/20, only registered with preference (fields directly associated with the programme): 0/20
Course objectives
This optional course is aimed at students who have already completed the course CJBB119 and wish to develop further their knowledge of other areas of present-day Czech orthographic norm. The aim is to lead students on the basis of previously acquired and practised knowledge of orthography to be able to identify mistakes in texts, to explain them and to check correct forms in language handbooks, including the internet sources. In seminars, students will also gain additional information about available older and newer relevant sources relating to the orthographic norm.
Syllabus
  • The course will deal e.g. with problems relating to the following topics: 1) selected issues of capitalization, 2) current opinions on formation of feminine forms of proper nouns, 3) abbreviations, words derived from abbreviations, how to write academic degrees, 4) issues relating to anomalies in sentence constructions, constructions containing prepositions and cases, syntactic errors, 5) formation of transgressives in present-day Czech, 6) formation of place adjectives, 7) selected types of pronouns (not included in CJBB119 curriculum. e.g. using the pronoun “svůj” and other possessive pronouns, a correct declension of the pronoun “jenž”), 8) how to write dates (calendar, time), etc. (in accordance with valid norms). Students will also become briefly acquainted with activities of the Institute for the Czech Language, Czech Academy of Sciences (the internet language handbook, linguistic analyses in the Czech Television) and with issues of the standard language in media. Previous works dealing with orthography will be used as inspiration (e.g. works by O. Králík, D. Šlosar, P. Eisner, J.V. Bečka, O. Martincová etc.). The course will also be focused on issues of proof-reading. As there is no e-learning course support, seminar materials will be distributed during the classes.
