Prerequisites
In order to graduate from the course, you need to attend the lectures of the conference Fantasy and the myth in the Anthropocene (3-5. 10. 2018) and to use the gained knowledge in the final essay. For details see: fantastika.phil.muni.cz.

Course objectives
The cycle of lectures by foreign and Czech experts offers students insight into the exploration of fantastic literature from an interdisciplinary perspective, introduces the current theory of fantastic studies and focuses on the role of mythology and fantastic literature in the era of Anthropocene. Lectures will be held in Czech and English.
After completing the course students will be able to:
Orientate themselves in the presented theories and genres of fiction;
Recognize the inspiring possibilities of interdisciplinary approach towards fantastic literature;
Understand the effects of the fantastic literature and myth on the contemporary culture;
Acquire basic knowledge about the application of cognitive science at fantastic.

  • 3rd to 5th October 2018 - Participation in the lectures of the conference Fantasy and the myth in the Anthropocene: fantastika.phil.muni.cz.
