Course objectives
The seminar is aimed on enhancing and practicing connoisseurship on practical visual material. The course will introduce also important figures of connoisseurship, some of their texts and selected questions regarding the authorship of works of art. Students improve orientation in the connoisseurship and ability to work with concrete works of art.
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to:
- apply basic expert procedures;
- understand the texts on the subject;
- critical approach to the authorship of a work of art;

  • - Introduction of connoisseurship and literature - Methods - Important connoisseurs, their methods and their work - The issue of formal analysis - Analysis of specific works of art in the medium of drawing, painting and sculpture - Modern technology and research of works of art - Auctions and art trade - Exercise in practice - churches in Brno, the Moravian Gallery, etc.
