Course objectives
The course develops the issue of using archival sources in ethnological research, presented within the subject “Methods and Techniques of Ethnological Research”, at theoretical and practical levels - beginning with the orientation in archives through source criticism to making them accessible through editions.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, the student will be able to identify the basic kinds of historical sources which can be used for ethnological research. He/she will be able to be well versed in the spectrum of kinds of sources (written, iconographic, printed sources), in their information potential and specifics. He/she will acquire practical skills in searching for particular sources, formal “passportization”, analytic and comparative work with them, exploitation of sources for research, and ways of making them accessible through editions.
