Course objectives
Basic principles of orthoepy. Basic phonetic and phonological concepts. Application of these on the observed phenomena for the French language system in relation to the Czech one.
Learning outcomes
- Understanding basic principles of the functioning of French pronunciation. - Capability to apply these principles on one's own pronunciation.

  • Basic concepts: phoneme, assimilation, neutralization, allophone, etc. Dictations, phonetic corrective exercices, listening to spoken French.

Teaching methods
354/5000 Lecture: explanation and definition of basic terms and their exemplification on specific texts (recordings) from different types of texts and language registers. Seminar: Application of acquired theoretical knowledge on authentic texts (recordings). In the form of presentation the student demonstrates the ability to independently link his theoretical knowledge with work with a specific text.
Assessment methods
Exam - written - theoretical test. Successful completion of dictation and reading is a prerequisite for admission to the exam. Attendance at the seminar is obligatory (80%).
