Definition of general semantic notions; theory and classification of semantic changes.

• Definition of general semantic notions; theory and classification of semantic changes. Theory and classification of semantic changes (diachronous point of view), the synchronous presentation will be based on French material and various categories of lexical-semantic description will be illustrated.

In the seminar part of course, students will apply their theoretical knowledge on authentic texts.During their presentations students show their ability to interconnect on their own their theoretical knowledge and practical analysis of a specific text.

Teaching methods

In the lecture part of course, theacher aims to an exposition and definition of basic terms and their exemplification on a concrete texts of differents semantic theories. In the seminar part of course, students will apply their theoretical knowledge on authentic texts.During their presentations students show their ability to interconnect on their own their theoretical knowledge and practical analysis of a specific text.
