Course objectives
The aim of the course is to provide students with the informations about functioning of the legal system of the Czech Republic. students will be acquainted with information about the area of ​​criminal law and civil (especially family) law, which are very close to psychology. The aim of the course is to provide students with a insight into the functioning of the rule of law and knowledge how to use the psychological education in the legal practice.
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to:
- understand the functioning of the Czech legal system;
- identify basic legal concepts;
- identify and declare the fundamental right;
- understand which are the fundamental principles of functioning of justice;
- know how to use the psychological education in legal practice
Syllabus
  • 1. Legal system of the Czech Republic, division into individual sectors of law, public and private law, definitions and basic principles of individual sector of law, sources of law, theory of law
  • 2. Basic informations abou judiciary, presentation of various types of court proceedings, definition of the other organizations involved in the court proceedings - prosecutor's offices, advocacy, other lawyers, notary, executor, expert...
  • 3. Civil law - principles, subjects and definition of basic civil law institutes; Civil procedure - the concept of civil proceedings, basic principles
  • 4. Criminal law - Concept, functions, basic principles and definition of basic institutes of criminal law; Criminal proceedings - concept, basic principles

Teaching methods
The course will be will be divided into 4 blocks. Each block of lessons will be divided into two parts, in the first part the student will be acquainted with the theory related to the topic and in the second part of the lesson the case report will be presented, discussions will be held and practical exercises will be given to students.
Assessment methods
The condition for successful passing of the course is the essay in the range of 2 to 5 standard pages, followed by an oral discussion about essay and themes described during the course.
