Course objectives
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the basic methods for interpreting legal texts, the importance of legal logic and selected legal terminology with an emphasis on its transformation throughout history. Attention will focus on both national and international legal documents from Antiquity to the present.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, students will be able to correctly apply methods of legal interpretation to legal texts from different periods.

  • Basic methods and principles for interpreting legal texts;
  • Law and logic;
  • The use of synonyms in law;
  • The meaning of legislative abbreviations;
  • Comparing and interpreting legal terms;
  • Difficulties in translating foreign legal texts
