Course objectives (in Czech)
Přednáška sleduje komplex tvorby vzniklé na přelomu 19.a 20.století ve středoevropském prostoru: ač jazykově rozdílné, sjednocené dobovými kulturními vzorci. Co je to moderna, co ji definuje a jakým způsobem se projevuje? Při hledání východisek této kultury se věnuje pozornost modernizačním schématům (synchronní a asynchronní proces modernizace), politickým proudům (liberalismus, sionismus...), sociálnímu pozadí (kultura jako nástroj měšťanské emancipace) a dobovým vědeckým reflexím (Freudova psychoanalýza, kritika jazyka...).
