Course objectives
This course serves as an introduction to visual culture studies. It aims to familiarize participants with the basic terms and concepts for visual texts analysis, it introduces the key thinkers and the main theories of contemporary visual studies.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course, the student will be able to:
- characterize the milestones in the history of visual culture;
- define the basic terms for visual culture studies;
- know key visual culture thinkers;
- orient themselves in theories of visual culture interpretation;
- use selected ways of visual texts interpretation.
