Course objectives
Students will be able to define the connection between cultural identity and museological institution. They will learn to understand the various applied methods of building and presenting memory cultural constructs offered for public identification (persons and communities).
Learning outcomes
Students will gain theoretical knowledge applicable in museological praxis.

  • Museums - institutionalization of cultural certainty
  • Museums - a space for identification of many social groups and communities
  • Museums - database of cultural memory constructs
  • Museums - a sensory reconstruction of selected cultural phenomena
  • Museums - purposeful manipulation of cultural memory
  • Defining cultural identity and defining the relationship of this identity to museums
  • Museums - the creation of cultural values offered for individual and collective identification
  • Museum - creation of identity on the basis of musealized facts
  • Museum - collective identity and pressure of the social system
  • Museum and identity - a specific subject-object relationship
  • Various concrete examples of building individual and collective identity in museums
  • Examples of identification with museum presentations and memory constructs
