Course objectives
The main purpose of the course is: To understand to this part of museological museography, to get acquainted with the history of the development of museum buildings and the basic principles of the work of the architect of a museum building. To get acquainted with the work of selected main architects of museum buildings. Explain the division of museum spaces (matrix, exhibition halls, flow, orientation system). Explain the terms security, accessibility, availability, maintenance.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will be able to: - to orientate in the development of museum architecture - to orientate in the issue of division of museum spaces - to orientate in the types of museum buildings - explain issues related to security and accessibility of museum buildings - describe possible modifications of museum halls/rooms (without exhibitions, with   exhibitions) - to orientate in the description of basic construction elements of museum buildings (rotunda, staircase ...) - to orientate in principles of designing museum buildings - to know some works of the most famous architects of museum buildings (Durand, Boullé, L. von Klenze, KF Schinkel, G. Semper, Le Corbusier, M. van der Rohe, R. Piano, F. Gehry, D. Liebeskind, S. Calatrava )
