Course objectives
The main aim is to introduce the development of world literature to the extent taught at grammar schools and to deepen students' knowledge. Since it is impossible to fit four years into one semester, we will focus on selected works and how they can be worked with at grammar school. The course will consist of a lecture introducing each period and a seminar in which we will work with specific texts.
Learning outcomes
Student will be able:
- describe the development of world literature from a chronological point of view
- to describe the chosen key works of world literature;
- to advocate the position of the works chosen in literary canon of secondary school students;
- to interpret texts better;
- select and use an adequate method for teaching literature at grammar school.
