Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to:
- understand the environemntal impact of anthropogennic technologies
- describe the main types of technologies which affect the environment
- understand the main technological principles for the providing of clean air, water tretment and purification, waste disposal
- characterize and discuss the principles of the best available techniques and best environemntal practices and also to the disposal of the persistent substances and waste with their contents
- know the methods applicable for the remediation of contaminated soils and sediments

  • VIII.1 - Basic concepts of remediation of contaminated sites and definitions (remediation of saturated and unsaturated zone remediation in-situ and ex-situ, integrated technology, geological environment, saturated and unsaturated zone, polar and non-polar pollutants, contaminants heavier than water and lighter than water source treatment, organic and inorganic pollutants, the spread of pollutants in the environment, physico-chemical parameters of aquifers

  • 1 day: Ostrava – hazardous waste incinerator and logistic centre
