Course objectives
The purpose of the course is practical training of individual geographical research methods in practice, as well as a demonstration of how teaching in the field can supplement and deepen the curriculum covered in school. During the first day, the observation and documentation of various locations of the Moravian Karst suitable for field education in the Drahanská vrchovina area takes place. The following days are devoted to the history and geography of the area and solving case studies. At the end of the course, students will reflectively present the completed teaching activities from a geographical, pedagogical and didactic point of view.
Learning outcomes
After the course the student will be able to: - orientate in the landscape;
- collect, organize and evaluate data about the landscape;
- to elaborate complex geographic characteristics of the territory;
- prepare own fieldwork activities.
Syllabus
  • Field teaching takes place in  Jedovnice at a professional workplace.
  • Activities are focused on the following:
  • 1. Evaluation of the area's potential for field education at primary schools.
  • 2. Evaluation of the influence of landscape on people (and vice versa).
  • 3. Orientation in the field according to different types of maps.
  • 4. Acquaintance with the historical-geographic characteristics of the area.
  • 5. Solution of case studies.
  • 6. Reflection of activities and the possibility of their use in teaching at elementary school.
