Cíle předmětu
The seminar focuses on various issues concerning the Internet and religion in East Asia and the theories which underlie them. The main goal of the seminar is to make students familiar with the relevant terminology, approaches, and strategies of Internet usage and related contemporary discussions, controversies or trends. We also examine the growing importance of understanding religious concepts for the study of media in East Asian regions. The course is limited to graduate students interested BOTH in new media issues and Asian religions. Students are required to do assigned readings (ca.150 pages/week), present responses to reading (2000-4000 characters/week) and prepare a final paper on a topic determined in consultation with the teacher.

Metody hodnocení
ZUR555 is an eLearning seminar. Students are required to do: 1) assigned readings (ca.150 pages/week), 2) responses to reading (2000-4000 characters/week), deadline every Tue 10 a.m., 3) final paper on a related topic consulted with the teacher (10 pages, Times New Roman 12, line spacing 1,5). In order to obtain final classification, students are required to hand in all responses to reading and final paper.

The course is limited to graduate students of the Department of Media Studies and Journalism interested both in new media issues and Asian religions. Students from other departments than DMSJ will not be accepted.
