Course objectives
After completing the course the student will be able to: • is able to clearly explain the course of individual stages of human ontogeny • understand and discuss laws can bring growth and development of human • describe and explain the structure and function of human body • To explain the relation between ontogenetic periods and typical diseases of age • To assess risk factors in childhood and adolescence - familiar with the issue of etiology, prevention and treatment of childhood diseases • explain the causes and symptoms of conditions that threaten life and health of children and adults and suggests preventive measures of chronic non-infectious diseases
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to: - describe basic risk and protective factors that affect the health of the child, - to know the basics of anatomy and physiology of the child organism, - to describe the physical and mental development of the child in individual ages, - Know symptoms of significant child health problems, - know the basics of epidemiology and prevention of major pediatric diseases, - apply basics of first aid in emergency situations.
Syllabus
  • 1. Basic terms, growth and development, distribution of ontogenetic development, the secular trend 2. Prenatal development (fertilization, cleavage, embryonic period, embryopathy, fetal period the fetus, fetal membranes, amniotic fluid, placenta, fetopatie, pregnancy, multiple pregnancy, risk of pregnancy) 3. Childbirth (times of birth, birth plan, hospital, home childbirth) 4. Congenital 5. Newborn (physiological characteristics and risk newborns) 6. Baby (characteristic of infants, breastfeeding and its importance) 7. Toddler (Toddler characteristic) 8. Preschool age (preschooler characteristics, dentition, school readiness) 9. Younger school age (younger schoolboy characteristic) 10. Older school age (old schoolboy characteristic) 11. Adolescence and puberty (stage of puberty, hormonal activity in puberty) 12. Other developmental period (maturity, maturity, middle age, old age) 13. Biological patterns (organ development, physical development of the child assessment, types of physical structures, the current development changes) 14. The hierarchy of living systems, cells, tissues 15. Structure and function of various organ systems
