Course objectives
At the end of these lectures collection a student will be able to name and to describe function and structure of particular optical and ophthalmological devices, which meet opticians, optometrists and ophthalmologist in their practice. Thanks this enlarged explanation the student judges, compares and chooses appropriate examination process of refractive errors diagnostic and binocular function optimization.
Learning outcomes
At the end of these lectures collection a student will be able to name and to describe function and structure of particular optical and ophthalmologic instruments, which meet opticians and ophthalmologist in practice and at school.
Syllabus
  • Instrument for refraction determining, prescription of glasses (optotype, PD meter, lensmeter, spherometer, prismometer, torometer skiascope, refractometer, astigmatic trial frame + trial lenses set, phoropter). Ophthalmological tonometers. Apparatus for examination of the anterior segment of the eye (including slit lamp accessory equipment, keratometer, topographer, Pentacam, orbscan and the principle of other devices for anterior segment evaluation), Wessley keratometer, exophtalmometer. Fundus examination device, ultrasound, OCT, HRT. Examination of the visual field - perimeter, campimeter. Instruments for refractive balance, binocular vision and ocular function testing. Eiconometers. Pleoptic and ortoptic devices. Devices for testing color perception and adaptation. Ophthalmic devices operating on the principle of laser. Instruments used for electrophysiological assay. Instrumentation of Optometric workplace. Topics for the course completion - are specified in the first instruction block including comments and study sources, always principle, use of mechanical optical scheme.
