- Course objectives
- The aim of this course is to acquaint students with the methodology of anthropology and to provide them with first information on the meaning, objectives, methods, social context and practical activities of professional anthropology. The course covers both theoretical issues and practical advice and recommendations.
- Learning outcomes
- After completing this course the student should be able to:
- explain the biosocial nature of human species and its implications for anthropological research;
- describe procedures to ensure validity of a scientific study;
- know the sources of relevant literature and access to them;
- correctly quote sources of professional information;
- propose a suitable method of sampling and obtaining anthropological data;
- process the research data into a form applicable to statistical analysis. - Syllabus
- 1. Biosocial (bio-socio-cultural) nature of anthropology
- 2. Scientific method, research methods in sciences, social sciences and humanities

- 4. Anthropological journals

- Theoretical tuition in form of lectures, completed with practical presentations, working with software applications and individual student work.
