Course objectives
The aim of the course is to explain the basic concepts and theoretical concepts of general science methodology, basic methodological positions of prominent representatives of musical science; apply theoretical concepts to the methodological analysis of particular musical texts; to prove the methodological originality of musical texts from different periods of time.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course students should be able to:
explain the basic notions and theoretical concepts of the general methodology of science and humanities;
identify the elementary methodological positions of the important representatives of musicology;
locate the main theoretical concepts in the development of humanities and musicology;
apply the theoretical concepts in the methodological analysis of the particular musicological texts;
evaluate the methodological originality of musicological texts;
criticize methodological positions in a discussion.
