Prerequisites
For the quality mastery of the subject it is necessary to pass the subject Lexicology. Both subjects are complementary. It is expected a good knowledge of Russian - B2.

Course objectives
The aim of the course is to provide basic information about stylistics as a science, to introduce the basic aspects of the word, its functioning within the language system, its role and the basic functions of the stylistic language levels. The course introduces students to the subject of this linguistic discipline, the basic concepts and categories. Students will learn basic concepts and categories of stylistics and navigate in stylistic stratification of the vocabulary of the Russian language.
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to: - understand the functioning of the basic aspects of the word within the language system; - theoretically work with the word; - recognize the relevance of the text to a particular style based on the lexical, morphological and syntactic language resources used.
Syllabus
  • 1. Stylistics: the subject and content. 2. History of development. 3.- 4. Functional styles. Their distinction in terms of lexical, phonetic, morphological and syntactic.         5.-6 functional style of science and its peculiarities.         7- 8 Function journalistic style. Actual changes and style shifts.         9.- 10. Functional style administrative and specifications.         11. Functional artistic style and specifications.         12. Functional conversational style and specifications.

Assessment methods
The condition of credit is: 1. Knowledge and understanding of technical terminology. 2. The disposal essay consisting of performing the comparison using lexical means in the two texts of different functional styles (as specified teacher)
