The Master’s degree programme (following the Bachelor’s one) Molecular and Cell Biology represents the specific field of study providing basis for all other disciplines of modern biology. The aim of this programme is to offer the Master education to English-speaking students who completed the Bachelor’s studies in Biology in various specializations. The study allows understanding of unifying features and connections among different phenomena in biology. The study programme is composed to explain principles of molecular and cell biology using various model systems - in microorganisms as well as plant/animal/human cells. The graduates should be able to extend the studies for postgraduate (Ph.D.) level as well as get a job in basic or applied research institutes or clinical laboratories.
To meet study objectives of the study programme Molecular and Cell Biology, students have to pass all the compulsory courses. Moreover, in the course of their whole study, students are supposed to make a compulsory choice from selective courses according to their personal preferences and diploma thesis specialization in minimal extent of 10 credits. Students enrol also the elective courses (preferentially the recommended elective courses listed below) in order to get a minimum of 120 credits necessary for completion of their study.
