Parts of the final state examination and its content

The program concludes with a Final State Examination, which is usually taken at the end of the fourth semester. The exam consists of two parts.

The first is the defense of the thesis. The thesis takes the form of a scientific article. The required word count is 9000 words +/- 10%.

The second is an exam consisting of three subjects areas: 1. Theories and concepts (conceptualization of security, energy security and related fields). 2. Energy in the CEE region (actors, interests, institutions, and issues in the regional energy politics). 3. European energy policy (the internal energy market; the environmental dimension; the EU's external energy policy).

If a student fails in one of the areas, he/she will repeat that area only.

The defense and the examination take place at the same time in the same place.

The defense and all parts of the exam will be graded individually.
