Parts of the final state examination and its content
The Bachelor's State Examination includes the following parts:
- German Language and Literature including subject didactics
- Defence of the bachelor thesis
- Pedagogical and psychological basis for the Bachelor's degree
The field-specific oral State exam tests knowledge in the basic areas of study:
Linguistics:
General linguistics: philology and its fields, typology of languages, linguistics and its disciplines, German studies and the study of German as a foreign language
Phonetics and phonology: German vocalic system, German consonants, suprasegmental level of German pronunciation, assimilation in German and Czech, pronunciation errors of Czech native speakers
Morphology: subject and division of morphology, verb morphology, nominal morphology - nouns, adjectives and pronouns, derivational morphology - nominal suffixes, passive, subjunctive
Syntax: basic syntactic concepts and theories, types of sentences, types of sentences, simple sentences, word order, coordinate clauses, subordinate clauses - subordinate clauses, their forms and competing structures
Fundamentals of lexicology and stylistics: lexicon, lexical units, word formation as part of lexicology, units of word formation, types of word formation - composition, derivation, conversion, contraction; modification of words, formation of proper names; subject of stylistics, stylistic stratification of vocabulary, characteristics of individual styles
Literature, history and culture:
Literature of the 8th - 17th centuries
Literature of the 19th century
Literature of the first half of the 20th century
Literature of the second half of the 20th century
History of the German-speaking countries - characteristics of the different epochs in political, social, cultural and economic terms
Didactics: didactics of foreign languages, its fields and related disciplines; theories of language acquisition; teaching methods and their principles, teaching pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary; organisational forms of teaching

Worksheets with theoretical questions and practical tasks are prepared for each topic area and are used in the oral examination itself.
The Bachelor's State Examination in Educational Psychology takes the form of a written test with 60 multiple-choice questions. 60 minutes are available for the test. The test items are in the range corresponding to the credit load of the following courses: introduction to pedagogy and psychology, theory and methodology of education, educational communication, research in educational practice, special and inclusive pedagogy, fundamentals of educational diagnostics, developmental and social psychology, assistantship. For each subject there are thematic areas with corresponding literature for study. A detailed overview of the thematic areas is published on the website of the Department of Education.
