Final state doctoral examination and defence of the doctoral thesis

The state final examination in the field of the Indo-European linguistics is oral. It consists of three topics: in the first part, the general theoretical knowledge of the comparative linguistics methodology is determined, in the second part the student demonstrates the ability to apply the appropriate methodological framework on the spot, in the third part, the student demonstrates the appropriate solution of the pre-specified problem.

Requirements of the study

Student's study is guided by a given individual study plan and consists of several parts: on the one hand, common methodological seminars in which he will get familiarized with the methodological frameworks of the field , on the other hand doctoral seminars (Doctoral Seminar I-VIII), and partly from the part entirely individual, when he / she will be lectured for lectures offered elsewhere (IEDB01- 08 Special lecture I-VIII). The aim is, of course, to help the student with the preparation and processing of the doctoral thesis so that it fulfills (at least) the requirements normally required for linguistic dissertation in the European context. Courses directly related to the proper completion of the studies are Theses (IEDS02) and Doctoral Thesis (IEDS01). The obligatory part of the curriculum is also the prescribed publication outputs (at least one article abroad and one active participation in a foreign conference: IEDP01 - IEDP03) and pedagogical practice. A In addition, PhD students choose at least one foreign language course (CJV_D_A, CJVAST and IEA21 English for Doctoral Studies, English for Study and Internship Abroad and Foreign Language (DS) - a publication and a paper). The obligatory part of the curriculum is also semestral study abroad. Compulsory subjects have a total credit endowment of 185 credits, obligatory optional 157.
