Parts of the final state examination and its content

A record containing a brief report about own study and a list of literature read by the student must be delivered upon the registration to the Final State examination (FSE). The Final state examination has three parts focused on fundamental theoretical profile core courses (philological parts: linguistic terminology, phonetics and phonology, lexicology, grammar and syntax; non-philological part: geography, economy, history, literature, culture): 1) A theoretical philological part which proves the knowledge of linguistic terminology. The special linguistic terminology is examined in reference to various philological disciplines and approaches to the language. 2) A practical philological part proves the ability to apply terminology and analyse examples of Vietnamese sentences. This part proves the ability to analyse on the level of phonetics and phonology, lexicology, grammar and syntax. Some examples are prepared in advance, other examples are though up by the examinee according to questions posed through the discussion in order to show his/her own knowledge and language proficiency on the level B1. 3) A facts-based part of the examination aims to prove knowledge of Vietnamese history, geography, economy, literature and culture. One main and one additional questions of this part are related to the issues of compulsory lectures.
