  • Parts of the final state examination and its content
    The final state exam consists of the defense of the bachelor thesis and a written test. The written test includes two thematic areas: Political and media systems (based on the courses Introduction to political science, introduction to media studies and communication, Media, politics, and society, Political and media systems, Democracy and media, Research on politics and the media and Political communication) and Communication effects and political behavior (based on the courses Introduction to political science, introduction to media studies and communication, Media, politics, and society, Political and media systems, Research on politics and the media, Political communication, Media effects, Political marketing and campaigning, Citizens, media and public opinion). The content of the final state exam is based on the obligatory courses and its aim is to test theoretical knowledge, methodological knowledge and skills, the ability to think critically and to apply the knowledge and skills in the area of the study of political, media and communication.
    The standard scope of a Bachelor`s thesis ranges from 45,000 to 65,000 characters including footnotes. The bachelor thesis can have a character of either a critical literature review or an empirical analysis based on work with the existing data. They should demonstrate the ability to work critically with specialized texts, process the concepts and theories discovered there, and find relevant answers to the given question. Instructions for Final State Examinations and elaboration of the Bachelor's/Diploma thesis are regulated by FSS Directive No. 6/2019 On Final State Examinations for Students of the Faculty of Social Studies of Masaryk University.
