Degree programme objectives

The main objective of the doctoral study programme is to extend existing knowledge achieved during the Master’s degree study programme in the areas of public economics, public administration and the nonprofit sector. Students coming from other study programmes receive the chance for re-profiling in these areas. The study focuses on scientific research and independent and creative practical or theoretical work in the areas of research and development. Students will receive in-depth orientation in various modern approaches to the theory and practice of public economics, public administration and the nonprofit sector.

  • Learning Outcomes

    After successfully completing his/her studies the graduate is able to:

    • understand theories, approaches and methods of public economics, public administration and non-profit sector on high international level
    • use these theories, approaches and methods in creative way to solve sophisticated tasks in public economics, public administration and non-profit sector areas
    • apply methods of qualitative and quantitative research for theoretical research tasks, but also for solving practical problems in public economics, public administration and non-profit sector areas
    • share own research findings to other researchers and also managers from practice on national and international levels
    • educate students and to realise high level research in public economics, public administration and non-profit sector areas

  • Occupational Profiles of Graduates

    Graduates are prepared to work in executive positions in public and nonprofit organizations, to serve as members of bodies responsible for preparing public policies or for promoting local and regional development. Graduates are also prepared to serve as university teachers and researchers in this specialization.

  • Practical Training

    The study programme is flexible, the internship in public or non-profit organisation, or the scientific mission at the foreign university or institution can be part of it, depending on the dissertation topic.
