The organization of the field enables the students to gain knowledge of monetary systems, corporate finance, accounting, financial markets, and international finance. A mastery of financial and monetary problems is stressed. Optional subjects enable students to deepen their knowledge of management, marketing and personal management.

    Our Master's degree programmes are open to students holding a Bachelor's or equivalent degree. Applicants must have a good command of the English language.   • Objectives

    Students in this field are prepared to work in various functions in monetary systems, corporate finance, and financial accounting. The organization of the field enables the students to gain knowledge of monetary systems, corporate finance, accounting, financial markets, and international finance.   • Learning Outcomes

    After successfully completing his/her studies the graduate is able to:

    • analyse developments in the financial markets and use the tools of fundamental, technical, and psychological analysis to predict their development
    • perform financial analysis of the firm, identify the strengths and weaknesses of the company's financial management, and propose measures to strengthen the financial health of the company
    • interpret financial data from the financial statements compiled under different accounting systems and use this data to efficiently manage commercial entities
    • understand the tax system in the EU and implement active steps to optimize the tax burden of commercial entities
    • understand the organization and functioning of foreign exchange markets
  • Occupational Profiles of Graduates

    Graduates will be able to work as experts in various departments in financial institutions, especially in banks, insurance companies, and funds, and in financial and accounting departments of companies and other organizations. They can work in higher management positions in the financial departments of banks, insurance institutions, and as financial and capital markets analysts, brokers, auditors, portfolio managers, tax consultants, etc.

  • Practical Training

    Practical training is not an obligatory part of the study plan. Students may attend a voluntary course of practical training.

  • Goals of Theses

    The standard size of the master's thesis is 60-80 pages. Instructions for the elaboration of the thesis are regulated by ESF Directive No. 9/2017 and further information can be found in the ESF student's manual accessible on https://www.econ.muni.cz/diploma-thesis.

    Students choose the topic within the subject Master Thesis , together with the supervisor of the thesis preparing its assignment containing the aim of the work, process of the work, used methods and literature sources. Students should demonstrate their ability to work independently with relevant resources (including foreign literature) and their application to the solved problem. The focus of the final thesis is expected to be a critical analysis of resources, independent work with current legislation, formulation of own proposals and recommendations for solving the given problem. Also, students can work with already published texts and data accessible for secondary analysis.

  • Access to Further Studies

    After completing the Master’s degree study programme, it is possible to continue further studies in any doctoral degree study programme (after satisfying the admission requirements).
