Degree programme objectives
The purpose of the bachelor's degree program is to prepare highly qualified experts for the performance of various functions in financial institutions, corporate finance, accounting and tax consultancy, auditing and financial markets. The program is designed to gain knowledge in the field of banking systems, banking, insurance, corporate finance, accounting, financial markets and international finance. Emphasis is aimed on mastering individual analytical work and solving financial and monetary problems. Within the optional subjects, the student has the opportunity to deepen his / her knowledge of banking services, banking management, bank accounting, financial analysis and plan, contractual relations in finance, insurance market, financial markets and investment, personal and family fnances,
Students have the opportunity to obtain some prestigious ACA and ACCA accreditations awarded by the professional organization of accounting and financial specialists. The ACA Certificate certifies high theoretical and practical knowledge in the field and is recognized by a number of international institutions not only in the UK and the Anglophone countries, but also increasingly employers in the Czech Republic.

- Learning Outcomes
After successfully completing his/her studies the graduate is able to:
- Understand the basic principles of private finance, corporate finance, and international finance.
- Understand functioning, organization, and the latest trends on financial markets.
- Analyse economic problems and propose procedures for assessing the impact of accounting and financial solutions for profit.
- Explain the functions and services of commercial banks and insurance companies and to analyse the banking and insurance systems.
- Make clear the fundamentals of financial mathematics and the principles of interest, make use of the interest in fundamental areas of financial mathematics and apply acquired knowledge to the related areas.
- Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Graduates will be able to work in expert functions in various departments in financial institutions, especially in banks, insurance companies, and foundations, and also in the financial and accounting departments of companies and other organizations. They can also work in higher management positions in the financial departments of banks, insurance institutions, and as financial and capital markets analysts etc.
- Practical Training
Practical training is not an obligatory part of the study plan. Students may attend a voluntary course of practical training.
- Goals of Theses
The standard bachelor's thesis is 35-45 pages long. The guidelines for the elaboration of the bachelor thesis are regulated by the ESF Directive no. 9/2017 and further information can be found in the ESF student manual available at http://www.econ.muni.cz/zaverecna-prace.
Students choose a topic within the subject BPF_TEBP Bachelor Thesis, together with the supervisor of the thesis preparing its official assignment containing the objective of the work, the progress of the work, the methods used and the basic professional resources. Students should demonstrate their ability to work independently with relevant professional resources and their application to the chosen problem. It is expected to formulate own proposals and recommendations for solving the problem. Students can work with already published texts and data accessible for secondary analysis.
- Access to Further Studies
After completing the Bachelor’s degree study programme, it is possible to continue further studies in the Master’s degree study programme in Finance and Accounting or Finance.
