Thanks to the wide focus, the graduates can work in many areas of culture: in editorial departments of culture in various media (television, radio, newspapers and magazines, online media), art agencies, museum institutions and galleries, and libraries. They can work in the field of heritage conservation, education (although graduates do not gain teaching qualification) in the administration of projects and grants.

  • Practical Training

During the programme, students will attend two compulsory courses in a cultural institution in two weeks (80 hours in total) according to the offer of the lecturer, or according to their choice. • Goals of Theses

The required bachelor's thesis includes at least 70,000 characters, including spaces. The scope of the thesis includes the complete text, notes, attachments, lists, etc. The thesis is to be based on original research and thus on the study of archival and other sources, including primary literature, and/or on the study and re-interpretation of secondary literature. The structure of the work depends on the contexts which follow the chosen topic.

Concerning the specialisation in the subject, students may present topics relating to individual disciplines (history of music, fine arts, theatre and film), as well as interdisciplinary themes or topics based on theoretical considerations. Applying theories to the interpretation of specific artistic works is vital. Another group of topics deals with current events in culture and art, its organisational and sociological aspects, etc., thus anticipating the focus of one of the follow-up Master's programs, Management in Culture.

Rules for writing theses and the bibliographic citation standard of the Department of Musicology, Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University are available at http://music.phil.muni.cz/media/3005217/pravidla.pdf.
