The program aims at preparing students for work in academia in the field of educational science. The students would have a fundamental understanding of current approaches and methods in educational research and sound knowledge of educational science - especially in the field of school, curriculum and teaching and learning. They would be able to design and carry out a research project using appropriate research methods and techniques.

- Information on entrance examinations designed for this degree programmeThe admission to the doctoral study program is conditional on the regular completion of the study in the master's study program of an equal or related field.
Conditions for admission:
- Submission of the application form and supplementary materials to the application form from 1st January to 30th April.
- Payment of the fee for the admission procedure 600 CZK. The fee is not refundable.

- Objectives

- Learning Outcomes
After successfully completing his/her studies the graduate is able to:
- understand theories, concepts, and methods, which represent current challenges and trends in the field of study at an international level
- use his/her knowledge and experience when dealing with educational problems
- design and carry out educational research and evaluate its results
- present own research findings in the research community: publishing papers in (indexed) journals, in the form of a thematic monograph, presenting papers and posters on conferences in the Czech Republic and abroad
- cooperate with experts from other institutions locally or internationally
- represent Education as a discipline in a broad interdisciplinary community and on other platforms (e.g. policy, practice)
- Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Graduates of doctoral program School Pedagogy could develop their careers in universities, particularly in departments of Pedagogy at faculties of Education, Arts, Humanities... and in various educational and research institutions, in the field of consultancy or management and in educational practice.
- Practical Training
The practice has a specific character - it provides an opportunity for parallel development of research and pedagogical skills of doctoral students. It is defined by the subject "Research Practice/Internship", while the parameters of its implementation are negotiated between the doctoral student, his/her supervisor and supervisor of the subject "Research Practice/Internship" in order to serve in the best way to its purpose.
- Goals of Theses
Only the original theoretical, methodological and empirical works, or works which combine these approaches in a suitable way are considered as dissertation theses.
The theoretical works deal with various theoretical approaches to issues in the field of study, requiring a high degree of abstract and analytical thinking and insight.
Methodological works analyze (new) research approaches, methods, techniques or instrument and evaluate their strengths and weaknesses.
The empirical works bring concrete findings obtained by specific research methods (findings result from a realized empirical survey/study).
