Abstract
The paper deals with the interconnection of English for General Academic Purposes (EGAP) and English for Specific Academic Purposes (ESAP) in teaching the pre-service teachers at the Faculty of Education, Masaryk University (MU). The first part of the paper presents theoretical aspects of both ESAP and EGAP. In the next part, the authors introduce specialist language teaching at the Faculty of Education, MU and provide information about the projects called COMPACT and IMPACT. The last part of the paper is focused on the study materials designed for the courses entitled “English for Teachers” taught at the Faculty. There are also presented practical examples and lessons learned in the process of their implementation into teaching materials.
