Abstract
In the article the position of so-called Volgaic unity is verified, consisting of Mordvinian and Mari languages. The result of the glottochronological analysis confirms conclusions of preceding quantitative researches, namely the Volgaic unity did not exist, Mordvinian is closer to Finno-Saamic languages, while Mari is closest relative of the Permic languages.
